Virtualisation cuts 'wasted time'Companies can save both time and money by switching to virtualised storage solutions, an expert in the sector has claimed.Writing for Data Storage Connection, Adam Zagorski, iStor Networks' director of strategic marketing, explained that traditional data storage management techniques are inefficient. Moving to a virtualised storage system can change that by ending the requirement for functions that use up expensive manpower which could be better utilised elsewhere in the business, he continued. "Virtualised storage abstracts the logical storage from the physical storage within the storage system itself, thereby simplifying the management and disk utilisation efficiency of the storage system itself," Mr Zagorski added. His comments come just weeks after Jim Damoulakis, chief technology officer for GlassHouse Technologies, said that the move to virtualised storage is "inevitable". Writing for IT World, he said that many people are still confused by the variety of options offered by the technology but that its benefits are becoming more widely appreciated. ![]() |
