Disaster recovery advice online
Businesses are to be advised on how to cope with a disaster via an online tutorial, it has been revealed.
Peak 10 will carry out a live webcast next month in order to show businesses how they can preserve their data in the event of an extreme situation.
This is to prevent businesses being vulnerable to incidents such as natural disasters, as this could potentially lead to them losing irreplaceable company information.
Jeramiah Dooley, director of engineering at Peak 10, commented: "Following the widespread devastation from recent natural disasters, the idea has been reinforced that disaster recovery plans are essential for businesses in all regions throughout the country."
He added that companies who do lose their data in the event of a disaster could experience a range of problems, such as reduced profits, prolonged system downtime and possibly going out of business completely.
His comments follow those made by Pierre Dorion who, writing for Search Storage earlier this month, said that many firms have IT staff which lack the required technological knowledge to ensure they are adequately protected in the event of a disaster.
Businesses should examine the procedures and technologies that would be used in their disaster recovery plan at least once a year, Mr Dorion suggested.
