Virtualisation 'transforming' IT services in healthcareHealthcare facilities across the world have been improved by investment in virtualisation technology. This is the conclusion of a study by Vizioncore, which said the system has become a "vital component" of healthcare IT infrastructure. Chris Akerberg, president and chief operating officer of the firm, added that virtualisation has "dramatically" improved the level of service offered to patients. He commented: "Virtualisation is more than a trend in healthcare - it is a key strategy for improving patient care." Mr Akerberg also revealed that more than nine of ten participants in the survey are intending to invest further in the technology in the next year. A similar proportion stated that this kind of investment has already had a positive impact on IT service quality. This comes after Martha Young, writer of a blog on ITWorld, suggested that converging IT technologies through virtualization allows businesses to use green IT to bolster their long-term sustainability. ![]() |
