More businesses adopting virtualisation solutions, survey findsA survey has revealed that more than three-quarters of IT professionals are using some type of virtualisation technology.The study, conducted in October by Kings Research, as reported by Network World, also revealed that medium-sized companies of between 100 and 5,000 employees are also adopting virtualised solutions. Some 85 per cent of medium-sized businesses have deployed or are planning to use some form of virtualisation technology in the next 12 months, while 64 per cent said their organisations have adopted or are intending to use application virtualisation within a year. Virtualisation technology has continued to evolve, with a recent white paper by Dell and VMware IT experts commenting on its role in new disaster recovery solutions for firms. King Research's Diane Hagglund said: "The idea that virtualisation is strictly an enterprise commodity simply doesn't hold - medium enterprises are embracing virtualisation technologies and adopting them at a rapid pace, realising immediate benefits." ![]() |
