Software developers 'must not hold back'Companies which develop IT software must not be conservative in the current economic climate, an expert has said.Pierre Marty of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) said that firms need to tackle the current, challenging financial period by acting positively and adopting new approaches. "Companies who seize the opportunities provided by technological shifts, which innovate and remain agile, will emerge stronger as the market reshapes itself," Mr Marty said. His comments came after PwC released a report on Britain's leading software companies. Virtualisation and cloud computing are among the technologies that can help firms reduce the equipment in their data centres, which can both help the environment and cut their electricity consumption. Indeed, Peritus Partners chief executive Cheemin Bo-Linn last month told IDG News that argued that firms should upgrade to green IT because it makes good business sense. The industry expert said the IT industry is shifting to energy-efficient solutions and the pressure of companies to adapt to the trend is increasing. ![]() |
