Virtualisation advised in disaster recovery
A report has highlighted virtualisation as a key trend in disaster recovery.
IT experts from Computing.co.uk recommended the technique as one way companies can improve their business continuity.
The study also highlighted cloud computing and web-based storage as popular trends with disaster recovery.
However, business continuity should not be left to a firm's IT department, the report noted.
Commenting on Computing.co.uk's guide to business continuity, Forrester Research analyst Rudiger Krojnewski added that the whole business needs to be involved.
"Every change in business activity or supporting environment can change existing risks or cause new ones," he said.
According to the experts, business continuity is emerging as an increasingly important issue in IT.
The report comes after industry observer Richard Bruzzese, writing at InfoWorld, predicted that virtualisation could soon play a vital role in business continuity planning.
Dot Net Solutions chief executive Dan Scarfe has also recommended cloud computing as a more secure method of storing data than managing it on site.
