Cloud is the 'easiest form of virtualisation'Business adoption to cloud computing services could explode as more firms incorporate virtualisation into their IT structures, it has been suggested.Amy Newman, managing editor of ServerWatch, quoted comments by Citrix's Simon Crosby, which suggested that companies are embracing virtualisation to meet new business trends, such as mobile working. Mr Crosby commented that mobile working through laptops and iPhones is possible since individual employees can access one business application or data through a username and password. He reportedly added that cloud computing can improve business' abilities to run applications and conduct virtual meetings. Overall, the cloud model could grow markedly because it is the "easiest virtualised computing power out there", Mr Crosby said. His comments come after Network World's John Fontana identified virtualisation as a key area Microsoft will focus on in the new year, to utilise its cost-saving benefits in the context of the global credit crisis. ![]() |
