Majority of businesses planning data centre revampsAccording to a new survey commissioned by Hewlett Packard (HP), over 80 per cent of technology businesses are planning to revamp their data centres within the next year. The primary reasons for the data centre transformation (DCT) projects are drawn from a general desire to cut down on business risk and reduce running costs. Most technology firms are already engaged in business continuity, consolidation and virtualisation in preparation for next year. John Bennett, worldwide director of data centre transformation solutions at HP, said: "CIOs who approach DCT initiatives with a focus on business needs can significantly reduce time to value for today's technology investments while laying the foundation for future growth." Most companies will be avoiding an integrated approach when they revamp their data centres, with automation being the most popular project to implement independently. According to computing.co.uk, virtualisation is one of the best ways to cut down on corporate energy use. ![]() |
