More firms 'could outsource IT security'An increasing number of businesses could look to outsource some of their IT security functions in 2009, a report has claimed.According to Computer World, more firms are expected to turn to security-as-a-service in order to help protect their IT systems in the new year. This will enable them to reduce software, management and maintenance costs, while ensuring that their IT systems remain secure. IT spending could be set to fall in 2009 as firms increasingly look to reduce expenses to help combat the effects of the credit crunch and widening economic uncertainty. However, the report maintains that security will remain a top priority for most companies, with many turning to managed IT services in order to ensure that they are protected. This comes after Howard Marks, writing at InformationWeek, warned medium-sized businesses not to get caught out when it comes to disaster recovery. He advised firms to consider some of the new technologies on offer in the market in order to help manage their expectations for disasters. ![]() |
