Hosted technology boosting operational efficiency, study findsBusinesses which conduct virtualisation products are benefiting from significant cost savings, a study has shown.According to a survey by the Aberdeen Group, the typical saving in infrastructure costs provided by projects utilising server, desktop and storage virtualisation is 18 per cent. Furthermore, a 15 per cent reduction in utility costs was recorded by organisations using virtualisation technology. The firm noted that more businesses are turning to virtualisation as they investigate efficient methods of managing core applications. "Organisations are conducting virtualisation projects to achieve operational efficiencies and manageability of enterprise infrastructure," Aberdeen Group's Bojan Simic stated. Some 137 companies were surveyed last month as part of the research into best business practises through virtualisation. According to silicon.com, more businesses will turn to hosted technologies like server virtualisation as they prioritise cost cutting in 2009 amid the effect of the economic downturn. ![]() |
