Virtualisation offers 'quick and simple' method of data back-upFirms which invest in virtualisation technology will improve their business continuity, an expert has said.According to Pallavi Kathuria, director of Microsoft India's server business group, as reported by EFY Times, virtualisation offers a quick and simple method for firms to back-up their data. Large financial companies or businesses with highly-sensitive data could find the technology useful as part of a disaster recovery strategy. Ms Kathuria said companies can also save money through the technology because it enables multiple employees to use a single server at the same time to access data and applications. She added that virtualisation has a positive affect on business continuity by offering "simplified backup and recovery, business continuity built-into model [and] dynamic provisioning". Research in the National Computing Centre's (NCC's) Benchmark of IT Strategy 2008 report indicated that firms could soon be adopting server virtualisation in high numbers. Some 70 per cent of companies in a survey by the NCC said they viewed it as a technology of major significance. ![]() |
