Microsoft appoints STB president
The development and marketing of Microsoft's infrastructure and developer software will now be managed by Bob Muglia, the organisation has announced.
Mr Muglia was named as Microsoft's new server and tools business (STB) president this week.
Included in the STB portfolio the 49-year-old IT expert will now manage is Microsoft Windows Server, SQL Server and virtualisation products.
Some $13 billion (£8.9 billion) in revenue is generated each year by the STB division.
After his appointment, Mr Muglia commented that Microsoft's new security products - as well as Windows Server and SQL Server - are very important for customers and have "great earning potential".
Mr Muglia added: "We have a set of great businesses, really, that collectively help to power the engine of our customers in their businesses."
Yesterday Microsoft also announced that its health users group (HUG) will be accepting entries for the Microsoft HUG 2009 Innovation Awards, which recognise the use of technology to improve the quality and delivery of healthcare.
