Office appeal for home-based businessesNew communications technology within Microsoft Office 2007 can make life for personal consumers and home-based businesses easier, an expert has said.Michael Schultz, director of marketing and product management for Microsoft Office Live, suggested that new technology provided in Office 2007 can help people manage their time better whilst improving productivity. He noted people working full time as well as running home based businesses could benefit from the latest Microsoft Office offering, because it helps them to manage their finances and everyday lives more effectively. Users can post documents and share information online, as well as send updates of new posts through group emails via Office Live Workspace, which could interest firms considering new converged communications technology to improve their operations. Mr Schultz said the mix of web-based services and desktop software provided by Office 2007 will encourage greater communication among a broader audience. "Web applications are really about being able to work with the content and the people you need, no matter where you are," he commented. This week Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer announced the availability of the firm's new Windows 7 operating system in a keynote address at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show. ![]() |
