Expert: IT can save moneyThe use of IT can help to reduce expenditure rather than increasing it, says an industry expert.Saving money through the use of IT has always been possible but has only recently come to the attention of many companies, argues Gerry McLaughlin of IT Contractor.com. "There seems to have been a sea of change in attitude this time around, with IT seen as a way of making the business more efficient and as an enabler of cost cutting rather than just a cost in itself," he says. Economic downturns which previously led to IT workers, such as supplemental staff, becoming casualties of budget cuts were offset by the fact that early systems, such as transaction processing, were seen as money savers, believes Mr McLauglin. A survey of over a thousand chief information officers by Robert Half Technology found that two-thirds of those polled prefer on-site supplemental IT staff to be working completely under their supervision. ![]() |
