SaaS solutions 'increase productivity'Productivity can increase significantly through the use of software-as-a-service (SaaS), according to an industry body.SaaS provides the client with an "accessible, customisable and predictable service" according to Richard Mowbray, channel alliances manager at Mimecast. "The channel has a chance to save its clients from unnecessary short term capital expenditure, increase productivity and bring down costs in the long term by introducing SaaS solutions as a suitable alternative to on-premise solutions," he says. Businesses can also benefit from guaranteed monthly annuity income with protected profit margins. Whereas revenue for customer-orientated SaaS, such as Google Mail, is generated through advertising, the 'line of business' service secures annuity income with protected margins. Mr Mowbray goes on to refer to SaaS as a "recession-proof strategy". The news comes after Richard Adhikari, of InternetNews, recently claimed that the recession is likely to give the entire SaaS market a boost, as businesses look to cut costs associated with installing software in-house. ![]() |
