Businesses 'should follow security guidelines'Firms can tighten security measures by following a set of UK government guidelines, according to industry security experts.BeCrypt recommends companies adhere to the recently published Government Security Policy Framework in order to minimise or eliminate the theft of sensitive data. Dr Bernard Parsons, chief executive officer of the company, says the framework was created in light of recent high-profile security breaches and aims to protect organisations by measuring factors such as loss of confidentiality and integrity. He comments: "There are technological solutions available today that provide the security assurance to government graded levels and that can be deployed across the organisation to manage the access, flow and safeguarding of data". Risk management culture also requires a sea change if companies are to complete the management effectively, he adds. An increase in the number of incidents of identity theft is resulting in a greater need to bolster security, 360 Defence's Simon Leila recently said. ![]() |
