Firms 'need effective security'Businesses should look to implement effective data protection measures in light of current security concerns, a sector specialist asserts.Organisations can employ a dedicated internal security team to deal with protection issues, according to Ryan Farmer, a consultant with industry expert Acumen Consulting. "At a minimum, organisations must ensure compliance to both internal policies and external security standards to which they are bound, in order to ensure sound risk management," he advises. With current concerns over data breaches at such a high level, sensible investment in security risk management now can help prevent considerable losses being incurred in the future, Mr Farmer adds. The demand for security applications is being sustained, with firms viewing cloud computing as an increasingly popular solution, he concludes. Businesses were recently warned by sector experts BitDefender that malware such as Trojans are still the most successful type of e-threat, which highlights the need for user awareness levels to increase. ![]() |
