'Save time and money' by adopting green ITCompanies can reduce expenditure by focusing on environmentally-friendly procedures, a sector specialist asserts.Elaine Sharp, programme marketing manager for independent advice company Envirowise, says firms can save thousands of pounds by following an environmental regimen. "Many examples of where resource efficiency has had a significant impact on reducing a business' costs [include] one manufacturing company [which] saw £100,000 in savings over two years," she explains. Such figures should lead organisations to "take notice" of the savings that can potentially be made, Ms Sharp adds. Using resources, such as green IT, efficiently helps firms to free up capital which may be vital over the coming financial year, she states. Companies can utilise online tools, case studies and guides to implement a practice most relevant to saving money for their business, the expert concludes. Investment in green IT is expected to continue to rise in the next five years, with a worldwide total of $5billion (£3.5 billion) used on the initiative by 2013, according to Christopher Mines, senior vice president at sector analyst Forrester. ![]() |
