Effective management 'enhances outsourcing'Firms considering adopting outsourcing have been offered tips on managing the change in-house.Companies with an experienced chief information officer (CIO) can help to reduce the confusion which the switch to an external operation may cause, according to Hans Muskens, director of transformation outsourcing services at IT supplier Logica. Technicians within a department are often inexperienced in certain relationship skills, as they are generally more technically oriented, he tells ComputerWeekly.com. "A CIO who has been through outsourcing before will understand up front what extra skills they need to bring in," he comments. There are also certain people within an organisation who will take on different responsibilities as a result of the change, the publication adds. Fields such as quality, security and risk management will all undergo alteration as the operation makes the switch, the source concludes. Industry solutions firm NetworkedWorld recently recommended companies choose hosted services as a means of "maximising" budgets during the global economic crisis. ![]() |
