Medium-sized business 'should be wary' of security breachesMedium-sized organisations are being advised to bolster security as technological threats increase.Protection specialist RLI claims network security and privacy coverage can be used to insure companies against the threat of losses incurred through cybercrime. The company has designed new CyberSecure software aimed at delivering solutions for medium-sized organisations, according to Betty Shepherd, assistant vice president of the RLI Executive Products Group. "Many insurers have focused almost exclusively on large companies. In mid-sized companies, the need for network security and privacy coverage is just as great," she claims. Companies in sectors such as technology service provision and healthcare organisations should look to implement privacy and business continuity practices to enhance security, Ms Shepherd concludes. Jeff Debrosse, North American research director at security specialists ESET, says implementing layered protection and increasing penalties for data loss are methods firms could use to reduce the potency of outside threats. ![]() |
