'Save the planet' by adopting green ITAn international environmental association is urging businesses to adopt measures to combat climate change, such as green IT.The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) claims now is the perfect time to adopt measures which will have a positive impact on the environment. Colin Butfield, head of campaigns at the organisation, says there is an "overwhelming" amount of evidence to indicate the increase of global warming. "If people are at all concerned about climate change and they haven't been bothered to do anything, now's the moment to do it," he explains. Mr Butfield adds that each employee can make a difference, with green IT adoption one means of saving the planet. If businesses combine to support the initiative, it is likely that more widespread changes, such as political action, may be made, the expert concludes. According to the Energy Saving Trust, one office light bulb left on for 30 minutes creates enough carbon dioxide to fill a balloon. ![]() |
