Sector specialist demonstrates virtual serversAn industry specialist is highlighting the virtues of virtualisation with a demonstration of new technology.IT expert Nebulas Solutions is hosting demonstrations of its new automatic provisioning for virtual servers at its London demo lab. The process involves virtualising servers so they can be powered up or down remotely in order to meet specific demands. Nick Garlick, managing director at the company, says firms are keener to get more from their IT infrastructure than ever before. "Virtual machines already offer cost savings, but by adding this level of automatic provisioning, systems can become far more responsive to the demands of the business," he comments. Owen Cole, UK and Ireland technical director for F5, which provides network and storage solutions for the new technology, adds that the ability to walk into a virtualised infrastructure gives companies "tremendous flexibility", while freeing up other resources. Kerry Bailey, senior vice president of global services at sector specialist Verizon Business, recently claimed organisations should utilise virtualisation technology as a means of gaining new efficiencies. ![]() |
