Canadian company signs hosting agreementA Canadian firm has signed a multi-million pound contract to provide hosting services for the regional government.EDS Advanced Solutions, an expert in application development outsourcing services, is to work with the British Columbia Ministry of Labour and Citizens' Services to provide support and expertise for server and storage systems. The 12-year contract is valued at CAN $586 million (£352 million) and will involve the supplier consolidating, standardising and managing computing and information storage. Jim Hamilton, president of the service provider, says the company's 50 years of experience in the sector will enable "innovative" results. "The EDS Advanced Solutions team will deliver data management and storage that is secure as well as socially and fiscally responsible," he comments. As part of the agreement, eight of the province's existing data centres will be consolidated into two facilities, with industry specialist HP also providing its services and products. ![]() |
