Microsoft delays Stirling security software releaseMicrosoft has delayed the release of its Stirling security suite, which now may not be on the market until early 2010.Company officials made the announcement via the Forefront Team Blog, saying it would be released in either late 2009 or early the following year The software combines Microsoft's Forefront Client Security, Forefront Security for Exchange Server, Forefront Security for SharePoint, the new Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server. Staff at Microsoft attributed the delay to requests from customers for interoperability between Stirling and third-party security software. In addition, the company claims it wants to introduce a zero-day attack-prevention system into the Stirling suite. The blog post from the business says the focus on Stirling: Security Assessment Sharing will mean IT departments can "quickly investigate and remediate security events". Microsoft recently issued a security warning for its PowerPoint software which are vulnerable to attack if a PPT file is opened. ![]() |
