IBM signs 10-year disaster recovery dealIT giant IBM has signed a deal to provide disaster recovery services to an Indian bank.The company has agreed a ten-year deal which involves the management and hosting of Kurmanchal Nagar Sahakari Bank (KNSB)'s infrastructure. IBM will provide its disaster recovery services from a Bangalore data centre, as the bank seeks to expand the number of branches over the coming two years. Manoj Sah, chief executive officer of KNSB, says the bank is hoping to double the number of branches to 35 by 2011 while utilising IBM's technology. "We believe their technology expertise and focus on delivering cost-efficient solutions would help us achieve our growth strategy and higher levels of customer satisfaction," he comments. The deal is part of IBM's strategy to focus on more small and medium-sized businesses in the region, with payment decided by an operational expenditure model spread out across ten years. IBM recently provided its system storage and virtualisation techniques for the Hong Kong Broadband Network, in order to expand the company's business operations. ![]() |
