Nexans launches new 'green' devicesGlobal cabling system expert Nexans has launched a new series of environmental monitoring and access control (EMAC) devices, designed to create more energy-efficient data centres. The firms says the new technology offers intelligent management of power consumption and cooling services intended to help make facilities greener. According to Tarek Helmy, regional director for the Nexans Cabling Solutions Gulf and Middle East, the new devices are part of the company's global green technology initiative. "The new EMAC device when combined with our LANmark and LANsense solutions works efficiently by providing intelligent information on power usage and cooling within the network or data centre environment," he explains. Mr Helmy adds that businesses looking to reduce their carbon footprint can implement the EMAC technology in new or existing infrastructures and configure it to offer power monitoring linked to individual outlet control. The company was recently awarded a contract to link Caribbean islands Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname and Guyana through its sub-marine cables. ![]() |
