EMC announces SharePoint solution

Infrastructure specialist EMC and its security division, RSA, have launched a new product designed to simplify management and enhance security in Microsoft SharePoint environments.

The company says the new RSA Solution will better secure critical information, identities and infrastructure while retaining protection and availability of the platform.

As part of the new product, the company has released the RSA Secure View tool, which provides customers with a hierarchical view of the SharePoint environment from servers to files within SharePoint sites.

Christopher Young, senior vice president of products at RSA, comments: "Protecting sensitive information is about more than discovering and managing the information itself. Organisations need to also manage access to that information."

He adds that the tool can help to bridge the gap between businesses and security professionals within the SharePoint environment.

The product was released at the RSA Conference 2009, which has also seen the unveiling of Titus Labs' Metadata Security application, designed to offer an additional level of security for organisations using SharePoint document libraries.
