Hosted Sharepoint 2010 requirements outlined
Microsoft has released the hardware and software requirements for businesses looking to employ Hosted Sharepoint 2010.
All hardware must be 64-bit compatible and in particular firms will need to install 64-bit Windows Server 2008 or 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2 to run the system.
In addition, SharePoint Server 2010 will require 64-bit SQL Server 2008 or 64-bit SQL Server 2005 to function correctly.
For browsing, Sharepoint 2010 has been engineered to function best on browsers which are XHTML 1.0 compliant - such as Internet Explorer 7 and 8 and Forefox 3.x.
The company noted that technicians are now in the process of developing an increased level of compatibility for Safari 3.x systems and non-Windows operating systems.
Meanwhile, Idera Products was recently nominated for an award to honour its contribution to the development of a new toolset for Microsoft Office Sharepoint.
The company was named as a finalist in the Best of TechEd 2009 Awards by Penton Media's Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazines.
