Being ill-prepared 'could cause company failure'Businesses have been warned that not having adequate data recovery and disaster preparedness plans in place could cause them a lot of heartache in the event of a crisis.Inform IT has reported that as well as natural disaster, businesses need to be aware of the risks posed by internal dangers - such as sabotage or worker error - something which is responsible for four out of five instances of data loss. Therefore, strict safety protocols need to be put in place in all firms to prevent this from happening, while businesses must also establish the best way to deal with these situations should they arise. Failing to adequately prepare is not an option if a business wishes to maintain continued success, the website noted. According to the Economist: "Britain's official pandemic plan, for instance, assumes that almost half of employees will take up to two weeks off work." Therefore, the short term disaster recovery plans which many businesses now have in place could be useless during these prolonged periods of worker sickness, meaning companies must now look to improve their readiness. ![]() |
