SMBs to benefit from data storageSmall to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) across the UK could benefit from putting in place data backup procedures to protect archived files and information, it has been claimed.By embracing data recovery and hosted exchange systems firms can put themselves in a better position to weather any unforeseen disaster, according to Brett Raynes, managing director of Backup Direct, who wrote in an article for Byte Start. In addition, he noted that storing data offsite has the added advantage of ensuring that downtime from a disaster - such as a fire or flood at a firm's main office - can be rectified quickly for SMBs, as files can be transferred to an alternate office set up. Meanwhile, Inform It recently stated that a lack of forethought and proper planning can often be the difference between business success and failure in a crisis situation. The website noted that fast disaster recovery can often be achieved for firms which have thought ahead and created backups of their files with a hosted exchange provider. ![]() |
