ERP 'more important than ever'Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is becoming a top priority for businesses during the economic downturn, it has been claimed.Benny Har-Even, technology editor at IT PRO, said that companies need to look closely at their ERP spending to ensure they are getting the most for their money. By investing wisely in technologies that will help improve data management efficiency, companies are able to stay ahead of their rivals and make the most of what resources they have at their disposal. He commented: "Company decision makers need to be braver right now to try and see the bigger picture, in order to make the right choices for their business." According to research recently carried out by IDC, larger enterprises - those with more than 2,500 employees - will be most vulnerable to ERP spending cutbacks. In addition, 21 per cent of all respondents said their ERP spend would be lower or much lower in 2009 than in 2008. ![]() |
