Effective DR tips for firms

A number of salient tips have been put forward for businesses looking to improve their disaster recovery (DR) planning.

Cbeyond has urged businesses to ensure that communications are rerouted during an emergency and that the efficient backup of data files should be top of any DR priority lists.

Furthermore, setting up alternative office space is a prudent method of ensuring employees have somewhere to work from if the main headquarters are compromised.

Brent Cobb, Cbeyond's chief customer officer, commented: "Not only should a plan be created, but it should be communicated to employees regularly, with the tools in place in case the plan needs to be activated at a moment's notice."

Meanwhile, Keith Ferrell recently wrote in his blog for bMighty that DR efforts should be purposefully targeted at getting a company back up and running before any effort is put into securing future business.

In this way a company can be sure that it will not face damaging data loss incidents in the future.
