Growth of hosted email

There has been a dramatic growth in outsourced hosted exchange email in the last 12 months, a new report has shown.

Research carried out by IT industry research company Gartner has revealed that many businesses are shifting to a hosted email provider in order to cut down on in-house IT costs and maintenance worries.

Furthermore, businesses were shown to be highly interested in the benefits of outsourcing, with growth in storage capacity one of the main advantages noted by many companies.

The Gartner report stated: "Organisations should consider using service providers to help them quickly implement interim or permanent solutions without heavy upfront investments in technology or internal expertise."

Meanwhile, Roger Strain recently wrote in his blog for Bizcommunity.com that growth in global bandwidth during recent years has led to many companies embracing software as a service in order to further reduce IT costs and to gain access to the latest programs and technologies.
