Disaster recovery 'made problematic by heat'Companies have been warned to keep any removable data backup devices cool when transporting them from the office.Keith Ferrell wrote in his blog for bMighty that excessive temperatures can corrupt files stored on removable data backup equipment and that the worst place to transport these devices is in the boot of a car due to the lack of ventilation. Ironically, he noted that this is the most popular place for this equipment to be transported; however, by doing so, firms run the risk of corrupting critical information. Meanwhile, Law.com recently reported that companies can benefit from entrusting data recovery responsibilities to a professional outsourced firm. The website noted that by doing so, businesses are able to focus maintaining their current operations, while letting the professionals recover any lost information. Furthermore, professional services will often have better results in retrieving lost data, the website added. ![]() |
