Sharepoint 2010 beta test 'to focus on performance'The recently announced forthcoming beta test of Microsoft's Hosted Sharepoint 2010 product is to focus on improving and monitoring its performance aspects, it has been claimed.Bjorn Furuknap, editor and author of Understanding Sharepoint Journal, said that in addition to testing the performance of the software, a number of new features are being tried out for the first time and the company is keen to get feedback on how well - or not - these features are received and understood. He commented: "The beta will focus on features such as the new FAST Search engine, the new user interface with the web-based ribbon controls and any other unannounced new features." Meanwhile, Tom Rizzo, director of Microsoft Sharepoint Server, recently stated that testing with a select few firms is the best way to gather information on the project prior to its global release early next year. It will employ a number of scenarios which participants will attempt to manage and the results will help develop the software further, he added. ![]() |
