Microsoft Sharepoint 'improves efficiency at RTE'RTE, Ireland's public service broadcaster, has moved to Microsoft Sharepoint to make its Copy Clearance process more efficient. The content of RTE is subject to a variety of regulations and rules from the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland and bodies including the Advertising Standards Authority. As such, the regulations impacted on the performance of its RTE Copy Clearance process, an operation which was further compounded by a time-consuming and resource draining email and in-house database system, IT manager Declan McKibben said. "Our department was already familiar with MS Exchange for email management so to use that as a building block, boosted by Microsoft SharePoint to alert new cases, meant we had minimal training and less resistance from users," he said. Benefits of the move to SharePoint include a quicker turnaround time on decisions given to ad agencies. Meanwhile, Bjorn Furuknap, editor and author of Understanding Sharepoint Journal, recently stated that enterprise content management could be boosted for firms which embrace Microsoft Hosted Sharepoint. ![]() |
