ERP 'provides company insight'Enterprise resource planning (ERP) provides a helpful view on company performance, one expert has claimed.Businesses which wish to gain a more transparent look at their performance have been urged to invest in upgrading their ERP capabilities, according to Bo Lykkegaard, program director for European enterprise applications at IT market intelligence provider IDC. He said: "ERP applications have been notoriously complex to adapt and make industry specific or even company specific." Mr Lykkegaard added, however, that it can sometimes be difficult to upgrade systems which have been highly customised to meet the specific needs of firms. Meanwhile, information technology research and advisory company Gartner recently noted that a survey of the opinions of chief information officers at a number of large European firms revealed that the top predicted growth technologies to improve efficiency in the next few months will be server and storage aggregation, ERP and customer relationship management. ![]() |
