Wikis and blogs 'important to business continuity'Businesses have been urged to treat the safeguarding of online content such as wikis and blogs as an important part of maintaining effective business continuity.Doug Miles, UK managing director at AIIM Europe, speaking at the AIIM Roadshow, said that firms face the possibility of legal action over these online publications and as such, they must remember to store all this data for future reference in case anything they publish should come back to haunt them. He commented: "The most recent communications media [are] text messages, instant messages, Web 2.0, Enterprise Web 2.0, blogs and wikis and ... 70 per cent of these are just not on the corporate radar." Mr Miles added that blogs can be one of the most important forms of public interaction for businesses. AIIM is a non-profit organisation which aims to increase understanding of the challenges associated with managing documents, content, records and business processes. ![]() |
