DR planning a 'big choice for business'The uptake of disaster recovery (DR) planning has turned into difficult choice for firms in recent months, it has been claimed.Companies looking to stabilise themselves against future uncertainties have embraced DR since the onset of the economic downturn, according to CRN. However, cutbacks in IT spending have led to firms having to make some difficult decisions as to how best to prepare for an emergency. The website noted that one popular choice for improved DR readiness has been to embrace Software as a Service, as this technology both enables a company to reduce IT costs, while also protecting IT infrastructure against possible damage due to its ubiquitous nature. Meanwhile, a recent study carried out by Symantec showed that nearly 40 per cent of all PC users in the UK do not back up their files on a regular basis, leading to the possibility of data loss for millions of people. ![]() |
