Disaster recovery 'still important'Businesses are focusing on data and disaster recovery during the economic downturn to better prepare themselves for any unexpected events, it has been claimed.Dave Pistacchio noted in an article for SaaS Ulitzer that effective data recovery protocols can make all the difference in continued business continuity during periods of instability such as we find ourselves in now. He argued that instances of server downtime and a lack of efficient preparation can seriously hinder a company's long-term profitability and ability to bounce back from a crisis. However, a study carried out by Symantec recently revealed that two-thirds of individuals in the UK do not back up their files on a regular basis and could therefore be leaving themselves open to the prospect of losing important information. The report noted that while 40 per cent of people admit to having suffered from an incident of data loss in the past, many are still failing to secure their confidential data against loss. ![]() |
