RTO, RPO 'important disaster recovery statistics'
Recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) are two of the most important statistics that a business can work on reducing when looking to improve its disaster recovery readiness, it has been claimed.
Jacob Gsoedl wrote in his blog for Searchdisasterrecovery.com the closer these figures are to zero, the more swiftly disaster recovery efforts will be carried out by a business.
He noted that the financial impact of allowing these areas to go unchecked when drawing up a disaster recovery plan can be significant, as any time lost during recovery efforts will impact on long-term profitability.
Greg Schulz, founder and senior analyst at StorageIO Group, said: "The challenge of contingency services like disaster recovery is to find the right balance between available budget and what's required to sustain the business."
Dave Pistacchio recently noted in an article for SaaS Ulitzer that instances of server downtime are counterproductive towards a firm's ongoing business continuity efforts, as these breakdowns in IT infrastructure can constitute dramatic losses in productivity and overall revenue when added up over the space of a year.
