Cloud computing 'offers financial benefits'Companies have been advised of the cost-saving benefits of embracing cloud computing and virtualisation.Specialist recruitment company Hays Information Technology has argued that businesses which wish to keep on top of IT spending during the economic downturn might wish to invest in these IT solutions, as they are cheaper to maintain than more traditional networks. James Lloyd-Townshend, managing director at the company, commented: "Businesses will initially look to bring in senior interim professionals to manage these projects and we would then expect them to gradually increase their permanent headcount as and when the market starts to pick up." He added that the integration of Microsoft's Sharepoint package could also offer a number of benefits to businesses looking to streamline data efficiency. Michael Dean, head of marketing at the National Computer Centre, recently reiterated this view when he noted that cloud-based systems of a number of benefits, ranging from increased data availability, lower upkeep costs and increased data storage capacity. ![]() |
