Hosted exchange 'helps firms cut costs'Firms across the UK are turning to hosted exchange providers in a bid to limit their IT spending during the economic downturn, it has been claimed.Small Business Computing reported that firms are able to focus solely on monthly costs which they are able to budget for ahead of schedule when embracing outsourced hosted exchange providers to run their IT infrastructure. The website noted that the hosted exchange company will pay the setup fees and any maintenance costs and all the customer has to do is keep up with the monthly payments. "It lets you gain access to the latest technology as you need it without the upfront capital costs and significant resource pool to implement and sustain this infrastructure," commented Tim McMullen, chief operating officer of Kaseya. Meanwhile, Web Host Industry Review recently noted that software developer Microsoft is currently in the process of beta testing its Microsoft Hosted Exchange 2010 software with firms across the UK. The company hopes to iron out any problems with the software ahead of its official release later this year. ![]() |
