London firms 'not prepared for a crisis'Businesses in London could be pushing their luck in terms of recovery from a crisis, new data has shown.Research carried out by VAR Eurodata Systems has shown that more than half (52 per cent) of all mid-market businesses in the capital have insufficient out-of-office preparations in place to cope should any accident or disaster befall their main office. Furthermore, the report stated that 34 per cent of firms do not have a disaster recovery plan in place at all. "Businesses need to give staff quick and easy access to the facilities they have in the office. UC and DR can reduce costs to a business," commented Des Lekerman, joint managing director of Eurodata. Dave Pistacchio recently noted in an article for SaaS Ulitzer that despite the economic downturn, many companies are still prioritising disaster recovery in their IT budgets. He noted that many firms are currently looking at methods to reduce server downtime in a bid to improve employee productivity and overall company profitability. ![]() |
