Businesses question deduplicationDeduplication services could get in the way of effective disaster recovery efforts, it has been revealed.Chris Griffin argued in his blog for Search Storage that some businesses are currently questioning the sensibility of deduplication technology, with the possibility of data loss resulting from an inability to have sufficient backups of files being one of the major concerns. Mr Griffin noted, however, that for many the perceived benefits of increased data storage capacity and lower running costs due to the storage of less information outweigh any such concerns. Dave Pistacchio recently noted in an article for SaaS Ulitzer that companies are continuing to invest in disaster recovery solutions despite the effects of the economic downturn and a tightening of IT spending by many firms. He claimed that effective disaster recovery planning can help provide a firm with safeguards against data loss and emergencies, something which is increasingly important during this period of economic difficulty. ![]() |
