Businesses 'failing to make DR count'
Firms are having trouble making disaster recovery (DR) efforts efficient and trouble free, it has been claimed.
A study carried out by Symantec has revealed that nine out of ten businesses in the UK have had to implement DR efforts in the last year. Furthermore, it noted that a quarter of all DR tests carried out by firms were found to have failed.
In addition, the average cost of DR efforts was shown to be £175,000.
Darren Thomson, senior technical director at Symantec, said: "Organisations shouldn't let DR testing cause significant downtime, especially when there are solutions available to address this."
Further research recently carried out by Symantec revealed that 40 per cent of PC users have suffered data loss as a result of poor backup routines in the last year also.
Con Mallon, director of product marketing at Norton, said that the loss of data can be heartbreaking and therefore urged individuals to back up now.
