Business security 'based on network strength'Companies have been urged to carry out "war games" on their IT infrastructure to pinpoint weaknesses.Edward Minyard, certified continuity manager at Accenture, commented that companies could find it difficult to fix specific security problems if they do not employ IT professionals to point out flaws in their defences, according to Channel Insider. Mr Minyard commented that it is imperative for businesses to be aware of any holes in their defences in order that they can plug them quickly to safeguard the important consumer, employee and business information which is handled on a day-to-day basis. He added that any major problems with firewalls should be fixed by a complete overhaul, as constantly plugging holes can only provide so much protection. Figures compiled by Gartner recently showed that the global data security software market has remained strong despite the effects of the economic downturn. The firm stated that overall spending on security software totalled $11.3 billion (£6.9 billion) during 2008. ![]() |
