ERP 'fundamental to business continuity'Enterprise retail planning (ERP) should be considered as a top priority for firms looking to get their IT infrastructure in check before upgrading, it has been argued.Dennis Howlett wrote in his blog for ZDNet that the uptake of Software as a Service (SaaS) and other hosted exchange systems are being put on the backburner by many businesses as they look to ensure their business continuity plans will stand the test of time. He noted that ERP is a fundamental building block for companies to base long-term growth and expansion on and, as such, while systems such as SaaS and cloud-based backup currently have the hype, ERP is a fundamental that should not be forgotten. Carol Wilson recently wrote for Telephony Online that effective business continuity planning should also take into account the onset of situations which are outside of a firm's control, such as the global swine flu pandemic or the dangers posed to a business by global climate change. ![]() |
