Hosted exchange 'improves file sharing for SMBs'Investment in hosted exchange server technology could help small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) improve their file sharing efficiency, it has been argued.Russ Madlener, director of the Windows Server Solutions Group at Microsoft, noted that companies could streamline their performance by enabling file sharing through a server network. Data compiled by Microsoft showed that 70 per cent of SMBs do not currently have a server system in place and as such could face significant efficiency losses as a result. "When you look at small business and why they act, there's always a reason. They never do it just for the sake of technology," Mr Madlener said. Simon Paton, managing director of CommuniGate Systems UK, recently said that unified communications and hosted exchange are two areas where businesses could make significant cost savings for a limited investment in IT infrastructure. He claimed that businesses which outsource these areas can focus solely on making their company as profitable as possible. ![]() |
