DR benefits of business continuity planning unveiledThe benefits of efficient business continuity planning on disaster recovery (DR) efforts have been discussed.Companies must remember that their employees are their most important resource and as such, should ensure that worker safety remains their top priority during a crisis, according to Judi Hasson, in her blog for Fierce CIO. However, the confidential and often sensitive information which a firm handles is also an integral part of its ongoing success and therefore, investment in data backup solutions and file safeguards are also essential, she noted. A study recently carried out by global IT security software developer Symantec showed that every time a DR plan is implemented by a UK company it costs on average £175,000. Furthermore, the research stated that a lack of practice and proper planning led to a quarter of all DR activities to fail last year, leaving the companies involved significantly out of pocket as a result. ![]() |
